Canine halitosis is a condition characterized by an undesirable smell originating from your pet dog’s mouth. It’s more than simply “doggie breath,” which is normal enough to some extent. However, when the breath ends up being too offending even for you, the owner who loves their pet so much, then you much better have the vet check if your canine has canine halitosis, or what is medically known as halitosis.

The condition can be credited to various pet halitosis causes. Generally, it is due to poor oral health. Dental tartar and plaque prevail canine foul breath causes, just as food debris and stagnant saliva can cause an undesirable smell to originate from the mouth.

In addition to oral causes of pet dog bad breath, the condition may also be caused by some underlying illness, such as the following:

* Abscessed tooth or teeth
* Periodontitis or inflammation of the tissue surrounding the tooth
* Gingivitis or inflammation of the gums (gum illness).
* Oral neoplasia or growths of the mouth.
* Oral ulceration.

* Bone or hair stuck in mouth.
* Serious kidney disease.

The above canine halitosis causes, however, are very uncommon as many cases of this condition are connected with oral issues. So practicing excellent oral health is still the most effective technique of stopping pet foul breath causes from triggering any more issues.

If you notice an offending odor from your animal’s mouth, the first thing you must do is to check for any dental or oral issues. Check the teeth to see if there are any plaques, tartar, or black spots in the tongue or the teeth. These are typically signs of a dental problem that may have been triggering bad breath in your canine.

If you don’t observe any of these indications, examine the fold of the lips. Sometimes, the lip folds may include an infection, called pyoderma, which discharges a smell that is reminiscent of pet dog halitosis.

Also, attempt altering the foods you are feeding your canine. It could be that the dog halitosis triggers you are handling include the type of food you are offering him.

If all else fails, seek advice from the veterinarian for further suggestions on what to do to help treat your canine’s foul breath.
