The most common form of self-injury is in fact cutting yourself. There are numerous factors this may happen. One is the sensation of regret over a particular occasion that took place just recently and even years back. Sometime stress is so intense then the person’s only resort is to divert it into physical pain.

Another reason could be for mere pleasure. The episode of mania causes the patient to have excessive energy and requiring it out through self-injury is one way to show it.

Another way to punish one self is by wearing inappropriate clothes for a particular season or climate. One reason why a patient uses thick clothes throughout warm weather is to hide a things or possible even simply themselves, shielding them from the world.

In some cultures, piercing and tattooing are types of spiritual conversion. Other people on the other hand consider these function as self-expression. While these factors are widely appropriate to numerous, piercing and tattooing can still be considered as ways of injuring one’s self.
